This is the start of my journey, I have an allotment that is about 1/7 Acre. Recently diagnosed with bad neck and back problems will make this difficult, but this is where the no dig method will help along with some help with the manual task I can do this. I plan on feeding a family of 6 all our fruit and veg all from my allotment..... Here goes

Frogs- a gardeners delight Frogs are a gardeners delight, they eat your slugs etc without eating your plants. On my allotment I have made two areas which I will allow to become overgrown. One area is a fenced off 2m squared area with blackberry brambles in, the other area has an old bath and a few logs in.I have a filled bath with water and grass is growing in one end and a couple of small floating pieces of wood for ease to get out. Around the bath is an area of grass, brambles, a few logs and other areas fo them to hide in. This area is fenced off and about 4m squared and roughly a meter away from the other area that is for the wildlife the live in. Both areas have been fenced so that they won't be mown or strimmed, this will be a total sanctuary for them. Starting again, planning for the future

It's been a while since I have blogged, circumstances have delayed my progress but things are moving along now. I have taken on another 15 poles of allotment that was very overgrown as you can see from the pictures above. This brings my allotment to 35 poles which now totals 1/4 of an acre, this means my self sufficient plans will be more achievable. As someone that doesn't eat any meat products, poultry, fish, dairy or any eggs I should be able to produce most things that I need for my diet. I don't push my diet choices on anybody as I think everyone is free to eat what they choose, these are my views. I do try to add as much fruit and vegetables into my families diets as possible and to be honest they are not great meat eaters anyway. As you can see from the pictures below the extra allotment space has been cleared and part of the space rotovated. Spring has arrived- strawberries

Spring has arrived-Strawberries The sun has shone the grass and weeds have grown, but so have the fruit and vegetables started to come to life. The 8 strawberry plants I started with 3 years ago have made it to 28 plants in total!!!! The first year I wasn't sure what I was doing, so I just left them to their own devises. The second year I was a bit more knowledgeable when it came to looking after and growing my strawberries. I picked the strawberries that grew and instead of cutting of the runners so that the plants concentrated on producing berries, I decided to play the long game. I potted the runners while still attached to the main plant, and allowed them to grow solid roots in the little pots. Once the runners had started to go a deep brown and felt a little dry I knew that the new plants had well established roots. I snipped the runners releasing the plant from the mother plant. Each mother plant varied in the amount of runners but one of them had 4 runners from it...
